Velkommen til Juleudstilling på Vilhelmsdal
Lørdag d. 20. november 2010 åbner Juleudstillingen på Vilhelmsdal med billedkunst, kunsthåndværk, keramik og design. Årets udstillere:

Keramiker Inger Bruhn

Koncert: Peter Andreas Bleeg, 26, spiller denne eftermiddag værker fra et bredt udsnit af den klassiske guitars repertoire.
Der vil først og fremmest stå spansk og sydamerikansk musik på programmet. Dog vil der også blive lagt stor vægt på den irske/skotske folkemusik. Der vil med andre ord være noget for enhver smag - dem, der nyder de hurtige spanske toner, og dem, der drages af den nordiske melankoli.

Kl. 15 - 18 er der fernisering i Pejsesalen, hvor vi byder på et glas vin m.m.

Fernisering på 'Tunø Dage' lørdag den 10. april kl. 16. Cafe Galleriet i Odder.
I weekenden 19. til 21 september 2009 blev Tunø invaderet af et selskab på i alt 26 personer. Kunstforeningen "Rejseholdet"
blev for 10 år siden dannet i Odder af galleriejer, kurator og kunstsamler Jon Bahl. Rejseholdet består af 15 personer,
alle personlige venner af Jon Bahl og med én fælles interesse: Kunst.
Hvert medlem inviterede en kunstner med, som under opholdet skulle male sin Tunø-oplevelse.

Deltagende kunstnere: Elin Neumann, Mogens Gissel, Ruth Gissel, Jens-Tune Gissel, Helga Exner, Camilla Aasager,
Søren Behncke (Pap-Far), Mogens Kølkjær, Finn Have og Lis Ehrenrich.
Desuden blev begivenheden dækket af fotograf Flemming Krogh, Århus Stiftstidende.

Dette resulterer nu i en udstilling 'Tunø Dage' som afholdes på Cafe Galleriet i Odder med
Fernisering lørdag den 10. april kl 16.

Når Verden bliver sort/hvid får jeg lyst til at tegne. Alle vinduer i atelieret er som forvandlede til mange små passe partout
for grafiske virkninger. Hvide flader, sorte linier, filigran-agtige streger: alt dette p.g.a. sne, sne og mere sne . . .

Min før så grønne udsigt er erstattet af en sort/hvid verden der appellerer stærkt til at finde tusch, blæk, kul og godt,
hvidt tegnepapir frem. Holde en pause fra Tunø Turens farve eksplosioner og tænke som en grafiker. Igen.

Drawing with ink and a branch from Hazel. Drawing in the wind with repetitive movements. These drawings reflect an
intimate response to the immediate landscape by ‘mapping’ the overlooked movement of varied grasses and trees in the wind.
The grasses, especially, – when dipped into ink create the drawings themselves through idiosyncratic, repetitive movements.

Earth Day is finished. After 2 years of moving this triptych back and forth and up and down and finally decided which panel
was left and right wing and decided which kinda frame and so on . . .

Right now, I can barely recall what the fuss was all about. Art is an ever-changing, ever-growing thing. It's the challenge you
want to take and the effort you want to make. At the end of the day, art restores sanity.
Art can save your day – even while the sun is going down. Now, take a deep breath, take a break, take a photo, go to your
computer and open iPhoto – and – save!

Weekenden med Rejseholdet blev på alle måder vellykket: Alle kunstnere fandt
hurtigt 'deres sted' at male, andre fandt en Long John til turen ned til Tennisbanen
mens nogen stegte rødspætter i lange baner og vejret var bare fantastisk . . .

Jeg sad på Bjerget i knap 4 timer med 5 ark godt 360 grs. Aquari, St Petersborg
farverne og min bedste Da Vinci pensel nr 20. Nu skal det blive spændende om
nogle af indtrykkene kan omsættes til lærredet.

Fremfor at genskabe et sèt landskab på et lærred, forsøger jeg at genskabe dets essens. Hvert sekund bringer nye farver og
bevægelser og er en evig og tidløs kilde til inspiration og arbejde. Netop det tidløse har altid fascineret mig. Himlens og
vandets skiftende farver, de vidttrakte marker, den fjerne horisont – de håndgribelige ting: Skove og marker, jord, sand og
sten, alt giver mindelser om fjerne forekomster, og det uendelige i tiden. Som et tidsbillede af steder, der har inspireret mig
og sat deres spor.”

Sculpture by The Sea

Today we went to see the exhibition Sculpture by The Sea. It was a wonderful and unique exhibition, and the quality of the
event was quite obvious, I belive. Featuring over 50 sculptures from across the world the exhibition site runs from the start
of the beach at Tangkrogen past the Queen’s summer residence to Ballehage Beach and into the forest around the magical
building 'Varna'. Produced by ARoS for the City of Aarhus, the exhibition is under the patronage of Their Royal Highnesses
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

Studio Up-Date and some ponderings

After we moved to the farm, I haven't got the time for exhibitions abroad, and thats why I have been blogging in danish the
past weeks or so. Sorry folks, friends and former Journalspacer's :-) Things are not going that fast I wanted, but hopefully
my studio will be finished this month. I have so many things to do and so little time.

Because of the lack of time - and a proper work space - I am overfilled with new ideas and expressions right now: I believe
an artist is prophetic in the sense that his or her job is to create something entirely new. That is one of the things I strive for,
to do something that doesn't look backward but forward and defines the times in which I live.

Today I am surrounded by green. When I take a look outside the windows it's green all over the place – green – a color I
avoided for years. Today I like it!

Studio Up-date

Nu har skorstensfejeren været her og erklæret skorstenen for åben! Der er dog ingen grund til at tænde op i pejsen endnu,
for her mangler både vinduer og – skorsten! Men det går hurtigt fremad, snart er gavlen færdig og vinduerne står i laden klar
til at blive sat i. Jeg har nu haft et helt år uden værksted, og har i den forløbne tid arbejdet med mine billeder stort set alle
steder her på ejendommen: I en boks i hestestalden (indtil den blev revet ned), på loftet (indtil der kom frost) i bryggerset
(så kom smeden) i stuen (!!!) og nu i bryggerset igen! Jeg glæder mig til at få rolige arbejdsforhold - men i mellemtiden er
vejret måske blevet så stabilt, at der kan males udenfor? Jeg kunne jo prøve med en akvarel . . .

Plein Air

I was hoping to move into my new studio in December. This is so not going to happen.
Things are delayed and didn't I expect that after all . . . Now I just wonder if I could transform myself into a 'Plein Air' artist?

These lines were written by one of my favourite authors Henrik Nordbrandt.

Even though we share the same country, this lucky lyric seems to be living half of the year in Turkey, while I am stuck here in the flat and windy landscape, in one of the Scandinavian countries. I am working as an artist, and my other passion is gardening. But I have to be patient and passionate only 4-5 months a year. The rest is november, november, november!

Ten Thousand Things

Whilst reading Haruki Murakami's After Dark, I went to his new website, and found it really stunning. If you have been reading Murakami you will agree with me, that this site captures the feeling you gets while reading his novels.

My favorite is still "Norwegian Wood": Loaded with mystery, mysticism, sex and rock 'n' roll. The plot is addictive and draws the reader in so completely you mourn when the story is done. Read more: here

Riot of Colors

Ahead on the otherwise monotonous and flat moors lies this area, - alive with a riot of colors. Random areas of white, red, yellow, and various shades of brown overlap each other in a startling mosaic. Within the area lie several ponds and pools. The ponds are quite beautiful to behold, with a deep azure hue that gradually darkens toward the center.

There's nothing else there. That's what I liked about this landscape. Nothing to disturb you but the wind. Sometimes I miss this special place. But not that much.

Minimalism

While walking past the scene above I was struck by its minimalism ~ the tiny trees on the peninsula ~ surrounded by an almost indistinguishable earth and sky. I've felt just like this picture many times, but there is beauty to be found during the lonely segments on Life's path, don't you think? It might feel as though no one is there, but the earth and sky... the Universe... is always there, connected to you.

I am a full time professional artist working with abstract landscape painting. I live in Denmark. This journal is just a place for me to write my random thoughts about my work, and share some of my photography now and then. I spend my free time outdoors, biking, walking, gardening, travelling . . . photography is a big hobby for me, always has been.

On The Problem of Form

I once had a problem with green. I simply couldn't use that color. I just didn't like it, and the fact that I was a big fan of
Kandinsky, made me more than convinced about that. But then; during a roadtrip, I captured a few green sceneries. In this
particular wet, wet summer everything was so fresh and unbeliveable green. This fine hilltop was inhabited by black and
white cows, and made me recollect Kandinsky's words from his book "On the Problem of Form".

The expressionistic painter Vassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), ignored green in his works. He deemed green a "limiting element"
and the color of bourgeoisie based on its passive effect. Green is "similar to a fat and very healthy, motionless cow,
capable but of ruminating and watching the world with its stupid and dull eyes". (Kandinsky 1952)

Yellow and red rests in green.

Further comments by W. Kandinsky:
A well balanced mixture of blue and yellow produces green. The horizontal movement ceases; likewise that from and towards
the centre. The effect on the soul through the eye is therefore motionless. This is a fact recognized not only by opticians but by
the world.

Green is the most restful colour that exists. On exhausted men this restfulness has a beneficial effect, but after a time it
becomes wearisome. Pictures painted in shades of green are passive and tend to be wearisome; this contrasts with the active
warmth of yellow or the active coolness of blue. In the hierarchy of colours green is the "burgeoisie" - self satisfied, immovable,
narrow. It is the colour of summer, the period when nature is resting from the storms of winter and the productive energy of spring.
